What is a house call?

Similar to a mobile veterinarian, Dr. G will travel to your home to take care of your dog or cat. Dr. G will bring supplies to examine your pet, run any tests that may be needed, and perform treatments on an individualized case by case basis.

Why house call veterinary medicine?
Dogs and cats are most comfortable at home. Sometimes they are scared in unfamiliar places and many don’t enjoy seeing a veterinarian at an animal hospital. It can be quite a challenge to transport them to a clinic, especially if they are not feeling well. Stress can negatively impact health, so why add extra stress to your loved one if it’s not necessary? Let us help your furry children be as comfortable and healthy as possible.
-
How does this compare to bringing my pet to a clinic?
Dr. G is able to spend more time with each patient than in the clinic setting. There is more of a focus of quality over quantity. Dr. G wants to make sure that all of your pet’s needs are addressed and that every question is answered so that you have help each step of the way. We want you to feel supported and want you to see that we care for every patient as if it were our own pet.
-
What areas are served?
Dr. G lives in South Miami and can travel within a 20 mile radius of her home to care for your pet. Exceptions are considered on a case by case basis.

How does pet insurance work? Can it help me cover the costs of Healing Home Vet?
Most pet insurance will cover house calls. Check with your insurance company to verify details of coverage. If they offer coverage, will need to file a claim for reimbursement after your visit with Healing Home Vet. You will be responsible for all costs upfront and your insurance will reimburse you depending on your particular plan. It is different from human insurance in this way. There are no “in network” or “out of network” veterinarians.
